Tejon
John began his research on the Mountain Chumash of Southern California in the late 1970’s when he was working at the University of California. While planning for a backpack trip in the coastal mountains, he came across evidence of the Tejon Indian Reservation in the map room of the campus library. Efforts to learn more about this ‘lost’ reservation led to collaboration with Dr. Greg Schaaf and Mike Khus (Coastal Band).
See ‘Uto-Aztecan’ for writings on the Kitanemuk who also lived on this reservation.
